Rapeseed Oil (Refined)(Brassica napus) Background: Our refined, deodorised rapeseed oil is derived from the crushing of rapeseeds. Its affordability, very light yellow/golden in colour and taste make it the oil you find in every good kitchen. Properties/Benefits: Rapeseed oil is GM Free, low in saturates, odourless and light in colour. It is one of the most popular frying oils due to its high smoke and flash points. Recommended Application: A common food ingredient for frying, lubricating, or as a base oil for flavourings, sauces and dressings.

Sunflower Seed Oil (Refined)(Helianthus annuus) Background: Our refined, deodorised and winterised sunflower oil is EU sourced from the pressing of GM free sunflower seeds. It is golden yellow in colour, and very light in taste and texture making it a great choice for all types of food applications. Properties/Benefits: High in linoleic acid and low in saturated fat with a light odourless taste. Recommended Application: Sunflower oil is commonly used in food dressings, marinades and vinaigrettes or as a premium frying oil.

IP Soyabean Oil (GM-free)(Glycine max) Background: Soyabean oil is one of the most widely used vegetable oils, extracted from non-genetically modified soya beans. Properties/Benefits: Our soyabean oil contains all 3 fatty acids and is low in saturated fat. It is one of the best performing oils for most food applications due to its light colour, odourless and tasteless appearance. Recommended Application: A versatile oil which can be used in a wide range of applications from food ingredients to animal feeds.

Palm Oil (Refined)(Elaeis guineensis) Background: Our palm oil is extracted from the pulp of the palm fruit. It is refined to give it a neutral taste, creamy white appearance and buttery texture. Properties/Benefits: Creamy white in colour when solid but begins to melt at 32oC. Melts to a clear liquid and is very stable at high temperatures. Recommended Application: Palm oil is a common ingredient used in chocolate making due to its melting point but it is also a popular choice in African and Asian food manufacturing as well as deep frying.

Toasted Sesame Seed Oil(Sesamum Indicum) Background: Our toasted sesame seed oil has a distinctive aroma produced from the toasting and crushing of sesame seeds. We offer two distinctive varieties, Mexican and Singaporean, so you can be sure The Kerfoot Group can offer you the perfect flavour for any creation. Properties/Benefits: A very aromatic and flavoursome oil which is light brown/golden in colour. You don’t need to add much to your product to get the flavour so talk to our packed oils team to understand what blends we can create especially for you. Recommended Application: A popular oil found in many Oriental, Chinese and Asian foods from sauces to ready meals. Why not add a splash to your product to give it that truly authentic taste.

Abyssinian Oil(Crambe Abyssinica) Background: The Abyssinian plant is native to the Ethiopian Highlands, which are also known as Abyssinia. Today, the crops are cultivated in Mediterranean and temperate zones. Abyssinian oil is a clear liquid oil, and is extremely light in colour and feeling. Benefits: Abyssinian oil is said to be an effective moisturiser that promotes smooth, supple skin and aides in removing wrinkles. When used in hair care products, the oil claims to improve manageability, shine, moisturisation and protect against irritants. Recommended Applications: Abyssinian oil is used in a variety of products including creams, lotions, body wash, liquid soaps, cosmetics, shampoos and conditioners, hair styling aids, relaxers and texturizers.

African Black SoapBackground: African Black Soap originates from West Africa, where is has been used for centuries by Ghanaians to help with skin issues. Indigenous techniques of creating African Black Soap have been passed down from generation to keep the natural black soaps close to Mother Nature. Benefits: African Black Soap is a natural source of vitamin A, vitamin E and iron. The soap is used all over the world, as it claims to help reduce acne, clear oily skin, clear blemishes, treat eczema and reduce body odour. It is also said to be a natural soap used for bathing, and has been used as a shampoo. It also claims to be a great make-up remover.

Aloe Vera(Aloe barbadensis) Background: Aloe Vera is thought to have originated from Northern Africa, however today there are no natural occurring populations. It is widely cultivated around the world, including Mexico, USA, Japan and China. Our Aloe Vera is expressed from the centre fillet of the Aloe Vera plant producing a colourless and odourless Gel or Juice. Benefits: Aloe Vera is thought of as an excellent skin moisturiser, it supplies oxygen to skin cells therefore helping with burns and skin irritation. It also claims to be excellent at regulating the immune system, either by causing a stimulating or calming effect. Recommended Applications: Aloe Vera is used in a variety of products including natural medicine, skin care products and dietary supplements and beverages.

Apple Seed Oil (Cold Pressed)(Pyrus Malus) Background: Our cold pressed apple seed oil is wild harvested, maintaining its natural ‘apple’ odour and is one of the more stable CP oils. Apple seed oil is a revolutionary CP oil from Chile and is the newest addition to the Kerfoot range. Properties/Benefits: With its fresh -feeling and pleasant aroma, this enriched essential fatty acid oil maintains fresh, soft, moisturised skin. Recommended Application: Skin applications, moisturisers, body creams and butters.

Apricot Kernal Oil (Refined)(Prunus Armeniaca) Background: Our apricot kernel oil is a very mild natural oil, light in colour with a distinctive odour. Properties/Benefits: With its pleasant nutty like odour the oil is rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins; its easily absorbed softening properties make this oil beneficial for skin conditions. Recommended Application: Soaps, creams, lotions & balms and massage application.

Argan Oil (Deodorised)(Argania Spinosa) Background: Our deodorised argan oil is harvested and delivered fresh from the Berber community in Morocco, who refer to this kernal/oil as originating from the ‘Tree of Life’. Argan is a new phenomenon within the cosmetic trade and is an oil to watch; known as the ‘miracle ingredient’ it is already used in some of the more exclusive formulations in the market. Properties/Benefits: With is extremely high level of vitamin E and EFA, it has fantastic healing properties for skin ailments and protects against premature ageing caused by oxidation. Recommended Application: After sun, anti-inflammatory creams and hair nourishment. With a superb absorption, it is a fantastic ingredient for dehydrated skin, along with hair strengthening properties.

Arnica Oil(Arnica montana) Background: Arnica oil is native to Northern and Central Europe, but can be found growing wild in Scandinavia and North India. Arnica oil is a yellowy-orange liquid with a greenish-blue hint. The oil is extracted through steam distillation of the flowers and root. Benefits: Arnica oil is believed to stimulate the peripheral blood supply when applied externally. It claims to help relieve rheumatic pain and other skin conditions, as long as the skin is not broken. Recommended Applications: Arnica oil is used in a variety of products including soaps and other cosmetics, pharmaceutical skin products and is used as a flavouring agent in sweet soft drinks and liqueurs.

Avocado Wax(Persea Gratissima) Background: Wax pellets with a melting point of between 60-65 degrees centigrade. It can be used in a variety of cosmetic products as replacements for ingredients such as paraffin waxes. Properties/Benefits: The wax has the ability to stabilise oil in water emulsions and is high in Vitamins A, D & E and has the highest penetration rate among similar oils. It is comprised mainly of oleic, linoleic and linolenic acids. Recommended Application: Keeps skin smooth & soft when used in skincare products and helps reduce scaly skin & scalps in hair care products.

Babassu Oil(Orbignya phalerata) Background: The babassu palm tree is native to the coastal areas of north eastern Brazil and other regions of South America. Babassu oil is a light yellow – clear oil used in food and cleansing products. Benefits: Babassu oil claims to be beneficial for both dry and oily skin, moisturising the skin with an oily sheen. It also claims to treat toothache, as tar from burning babassu husks is rubbed onto the gums. Recommended Applications: Babassu oil is used in a variety of products including massage, bath products, skin care products and medicinal remedies.

Baobab Oil(Adansonia) Background: The baobab tree is native to Africa, and is generally found in places with low altitude and in the hotter, drier areas. Baobab oil has a golden yellow colour, and has a slightly nutty scent. Benefits: Baobab oil claims to have many benefits such as softening and reconstructing the skin, improving elasticity of the skin, and encouraging the regeneration of cells. Baobab oil contains vitamins A, D and E, as well as essential fatty acids and is full of antioxidants. Recommended Applications: Baobab oil is used in a variety of products including hair care and skin care products, soaps, hot oil treatments, lip balms and creams, cosmetics and massage oil.

Black Cumin Seed Oil(Cuminum cyminum) Background: The black cumin plant originates from India, however cumin is native to Egypt. Today cumin is grown in many countries including Malta, India, Sicily, Mexico and China. This oil is quite dark in colour, and has a sharp, spicy flavour with a warm aroma. Benefits: Black cumin oil is said to regulate intestinal functions, and have a positive influence on allergies. Black cumin oil claims to treat skin irritation, dry skin, acne, psoriasis and eczema. Recommended Applications: Black cumin oil is used in a variety of products such as creams, but also has therapeutic and culinary uses.

Blackberry Seed Oil(Rubus fruticosus) Background: Blackberries are indigenous to several countries, but originate from Asia, Europe and North and South America. Once crushed, blackberries produce a dark green – gold coloured oil. Benefits: Blackberries are renowned for the makeup of nutrients in them. Once crushed, the seeds and oil contain large amounts of omega 3, 6 vitamin C and E, which are not only consumed but said to be beneficial to the skin. Blackberry oil is said to restore damaged or wrinkled skin as they absorb the nutrients. Recommended Applications: Blackberry seed oil is used in a variety of products such as sun cream lotions, face creams, shampoos and conditioners, body creams and soap.

Borage Oil(Borago officinalis) Background: The Borage herb originates from the Middle East and is now widely grown around the world. Our Borage Oil is cold pressed from the seed of the Borage plant, it has virtually no odour, but it is pleasant if smelt. Borage is easily distinguished by its hairy greyish-green leaves and pinky-blue star shaped flowers. Benefits: Borage oil is an excellent source of GLA, and is said to be good for the elderly skin. It claims to help prevent dryness, premature aging and helps to makes the skin suppler. It has been used to prevent wrinkles, counteract unsightly stretch marks and to strengthen nails. Recommended Applications: Borage oil is used in a variety of products such as face creams and masks, baby care lotions, soaps and shampoos and is also available in health foods and vitamins.

Brazil Nut Oil(Bertholletia excels) Background: Brazil nuts are native to the Amazon rainforest of South America. They are now grown in Guianas, Venezuela, Brazil, eastern Colombia, eastern Peru and eastern Bolivia. Brazil nut oil has a light texture, and a sweet, nutty aroma. Benefits: Brazil nuts contain a dietary source of selenium, and research suggests that proper selenium intake is correlated with a reduced risk of both breast and prostate cancer. Brazil nut oil claims to help slow down that process of ageing skin, and also helps with dry and cracked skin. Recommended Applications: Brazil nut oil is used in a variety of products including hair products, facial serums, massage oils, skin products and lip care products, as well as being eaten raw and added to meals.

Calendula Oil (Infused in Sunflower)(Calendula Officinalis) Background: Our calendula oil infused is derived from the flowers of the calendula plant infused in sunflower oil maintaining a slight odour. We infuse this oil within our own facility. Properties / Benefits: With its anti-inflammatory and healing properties it is rich in Vitamins E & C which promotes skin healing. Recommended Application: Good skin healing properties for bruises, broken/varicose veins, eczema and baby skincare.

Camelina Seed Oil (Cold Pressed and Refined)(Camelina Sativa) Background: Also known as ‘Gold of Pleasure’, home grown in the North Yorkshire dales and pressed in our own facility, camelina is a fantastic addition to the range – why? Because it’s MADE IN YORKSHIRE, BRITAIN! Properties/Benefits: Its popularity as an edible and cosmetic ingredient has grown significantly due to its enriched omega 3 content and its high stability level due to the Vitamin E content. Both benefits are enjoyed when either applying onto the skin or consuming! Recommended Application: For the cosmetic crowd, try formulating in lip balms, face/day creams and baby formulations. For the foodies out there, ask us about our OMEGA POWER blend, it is full of all the goodies; including camelina. Or just add it to your range of table oils.

Carotene Oil(Daucus carota) Background: Carotene oil is said to have originated from Afghanistan, but these days it is mainly obtained from wild carrots, usually found in Europe. Carotene oil is a clear, orange coloured liquid. Benefits: Carotene oil is said to have a detoxifying effect on the liver and helps to fight jaundice, while cleaning the digestive system and the body as a whole. It claims to be helpful for arthritis, gout, edema, rheumatism and accumulation of toxins in the muscles and joints. Carotene oil claims to strengthen the mucus membranes in the nose, throat and lungs, having a beneficial effect on illnesses such as bronchitis and influenza. Recommended Applications: Carotene oil is used in a variety of products including burners and vaporizers, creams, lotion and massage oils.

Castor Oil(Ricinus communis) Background: Castor oil originates from the south eastern Mediterranean Basin in Eastern Africa. The castor oil plant has been cultivated for at least 6000 years, and is one of the few major crops with an African origin. Castor oil is a viscid fluid, almost colourless when pure. Benefits: Castor oil claims to be a purgative for millennia and diarrhoea caused by food poisoning. Castor oil is also used externally for sores, abscesses and Cutaneous conditions e.g. ringworm. Recommended Applications: Castor oil is used in a variety of cosmetic products such as nail polishes and removers, solid perfumes and lipsticks.

Cocoa Butter (Deodorised and Non-Deodorised)(Theobroma Cacao) Background: A by-product of the chocolate industry provides cosmetic formulators with this versatile ingredient obtained initially from the fruit of the Cacao tree. Its deodorised state allows formulators to attach what aroma they wish to accompany the butter. However, we also offer the NON-deodorised version if you want to maintain the cocoa fragrance. Properties/Benefits: The butter contains a typical unsaponifiable matter of 20%, so when applied to skin it increases its elasticity. The butters melting point (close to the human body temperature), allows this ingredient to be a super emollient. Recommended Application: Although an extremely versatile ingredient, it is commonly used in body butters, soaps, shower gels and lip balms/ lip sticks.

Cranberry Oil (Cold Pressed)(Vaccinium Macrocarpon) Background: Our cranberry seed oil is Cold Pressed at our own facility in North Yorkshire and is one of our many environmentally friendly oils due to its biodegradable production techniques. Properties/Benefits: Contains a near one-to-one balance of omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids and Natural Vitamin E / anti-oxidants. Recommended Applications: Moisturisers, after shave balms & shaving gels, body butters & creams.

Cucumber Oil (Cold Pressed)(Cucumis Sativus) Background: Classed as a fruit, cucumber oil is new to the Kerfoot range, with its golden/yellow oil it successfully maintains its fresh, natural cucumber aroma. Properties/Benefits: Our cucumber oil is light non-greasy and contains 3 main fatty acids, natural tocopherols and a variety of minerals. Recommended Applications: Cosmetic/skincare applications – Eye lid/face creams to reduce puffiness & dark circles, make-up remover, body butters, shaving gels.

Cupuacu Butter (Theobroma Grandiflorum) Background: A creamy and emollient butter our cupuacu butter is obtained from the fruit seed found growing wild in the Brazilian Amazon. Properties/Benefits: The butter has a high capacity for water consumption meaning it is a great emollient for cosmetic formulations and is an effective alternative to lanolin. It promotes a smoothness and softness to skin and hair. Recommended Applications: An excellent addition to body butters, hand lotions, lipsticks & face masks.

Evening Primrose Oil(Oenothera biennis) Background: Evening primrose oil is native to North America and was introduced into Europe in 1619. It is now common in the Mediterranean, and is also cultivated in the UK. Evening primrose oil is yellow in colour, and oxidizes when exposed to light and air. Benefits: Evening primrose oil claims to be useful in the prevention of heart disease; this is because the oil contains gamma-linolenic acid which is known to lower blood cholesterol. Evening primrose oil is said to help anxiety, insomnia and depression. Recommended Applications: Evening primrose oil has a variety of uses including therapeutic use, culinary use and cosmetics e.g anti-wrinkle preparations.

Properties/Benefits: Containing Omega 3, 6 and 9, this oil also has a lovely taste and aroma, which is why when consumed daily, either via teaspoon or drizzled on salads, it can help to reduce cholesterol and high blood pressure. Grapeseed Oil (Refined)(Vitis Vinifera) Background: Another popular carrier oil which is an abundant by-product of winemaking, grapeseed oil is a preferred cosmetic ingredient used to re-structure damaged and stressed skin tissue. A stable, affordable base oil. Properties/Benefits: Our grapeseed oil is rich in Vitamin E and essential fatty acids containing more linoleic acid, necessary for good health, than many other carrier oils and does not contain cholesterol. Naturally replenishes oils when used in skincare products. Recommended Application: Alongside culinary use, cosmetic applications such as body butters & creams, face creams and make-up removers and foot creams.

Jojoba Wax(Simmondsia sinensis) Background: Our Jojoba Wax is a light golden, slightly sweet smelling and extremely hard. The Jojoba seed grows naturally in desert regions. The liquid oil is extracted from the seed through mechanical pressing and hydrogenated to a hard wax consistency. Properties/Benefits: It contains Myristic acid which acts as an anti inflammatory agent. It’s also good for oily, dry and mixed skin types. The has properties of moisture control and photo protection on the external surfaces of skin and hair. Recommended Applications: This wax is used in a variety of products such as: – creams, lotion, soaps, lipstick, sun care products, nail hardener and foot care products. It’s a good non – greasy lubricant and forms a matrix with other waxes to hold pigments and oils in lipsticks.

Kiwi seed oil (refined)(L. Actinidia chinensis PLANCHON) Background: Our Kiwi seed oil is cold pressed and refined leaving it odourless. It is mostly grown in New Zealand. The oil is extracted from the kiwi fruit seed also known as the Chinese Gooseberry through a method of mechanical extraction. Properties / Benefits: The oil is rich in vitamins and minerals allowing it to provide great moisture retention abilities. This makes it ideal for treating irritated skin and dry damaged hair. It is a superb base / carrier oil for cosmetic formulations. Recommended application: This oil has a variety of uses and therefore is used in a variety of cosmetic products such as: – Creams, lotions, massage application, baby ranges, shampoos and hair treatments.

Kombo Butter(Pycnanthus angolensis) Background: The Kombo plant is found across many areas of West Africa, including Angola and Uganda. The Kerfoot Group’s Kombo butter comes from Ghana. Kombo butter is dark in colour; however the nuts have a slightly aromatic scent. Benefits: There are many traditional uses for the Kombo plant, and these utilize the bark, roots, leaves and seeds. The Ibos in Nigeria pound the bark of the Kombo plant to use as a mouthwash, and also as a remedy for toothache and appetite loss. Infusions of the bark are used to prevent anaemia, headaches and scabies. Not only does the Kombo plant have medicinal uses, the wax and oil of the seeds has been used for making candles, soap, fuel and lubricants. Recommended Applications: Kombo butter is used in a variety of products including lotions, balms, UV-protection products, skin care products, anti-inflammatory and arthritis creams.

Kukui Nut Oil (Refined)(Aleurites Moluccana) Background: The kukui (or candle nut) tree originates from Indonesia and also Hawaii. The clear, slightly yellow oil is extracted from the seed of the kukui nut. This very affordable oil is not the most common, but with now strong availability at Kerfoot, we have great expectations for this oil to be used as a base/ carrier oil in many formulations in the future. Properties/Benefits: Kukui has a high vitamin A,E and F content, making it extremely effective at restoring and rejuvenating dry and damaged skin. The oil penetrates the skin effectively and is excellent at treating skin conditions and ageing skin. Recommended Application: Predominantly used in skin applications, but also useful in hair conditioners as it aids in the nourishment of the scalp.

Lavender Oil(Lavandula Angustifolia) Background: The origin of Lavender stems from the Mediterranean, Middle East and India, and has been used for more than 2,500 years. Lavender oil is clear in colour, and has a light, fresh aroma. Benefits: Lavender oil has a calming scent that claims to help with nerves, treating migraines, headaches, anxiety, depression and emotional stress. It is also recommended for insomnia as the oil is said to induce sleep. Lavender oil is also said to help various types of pain such as sore and tense muscles, sprains, backache and joint pain. Recommended Applications: Lavender oil is used in a variety of products including face wash lotions and creams, liquid and hard soaps, make-up remover lotions and massage oils.

Lemon Seed Oil Refined(Citrus limon) Background: The source of the lemon is unclear; however it is thought that the Lemon Tree is native to India, Northern Burma and China. Our Lemon Seed Oil is extracted from the fruits seeds then refined leaving it relatively odourless and colourless. However it does have a slight sharp, fresh smell, and is pale greenish-yellow in colour. Benefits: Lemon Seed Oil claims to be beneficial to the circulatory system, as well as aiding with blood flow and reducing blood pressure. The Lemon Seed Oil is rich in vitamins and minerals allowing it to provide great moisture retention abilities. This makes it ideal for treating irritated skin and dry damaged hair. Lemon Seed Oil is a superb carrier oil for most cosmetic formulations. Recommended Applications: Lemon Seed Oil is very versatile and is used in a variety of products including: burners and vaporizers, blended massage oils, lotions, creams and mouthwash.

Linseed Oil(Linum usitatissimum) Background: It is important to distinguish between linseed and flaxseed oil. Both oils come from the same seed, but flaxseed oil is raw, cold pressed oil. Linseed oil is heated and subjected to chemical treatment. Linseed is native to Europe and Asia, but is cultivated worldwide for its fibre, seeds and seed oil. Linseed oil can be golden yellow, brown or amber in colour. Benefits: Linseed contains high amounts of essential omega-3. Omega-3 can help conditions such as high cholesterol, heart disease, psoriasis, certain types of infections, migraines, lupus, ulcers and glaucoma.Omega-3 is also recommended for skin problems such as acne and eczema. Recommended Applications: Linseed oil is used in a variety of products including paints, printing inks, varnish, linoleum and also in culinary uses.

Maize Oil(Zea mays) Background: The origin of maize is unknown, however it was discovered by Columbus’s men in Cuba in 1492. Maize oil is yellow – golden coloured liquid, with a pleasant taste. Benefits: Maize oil is rich in vitamin E, which has been said to be an antioxidant in the body, and protects the body from free radicals. It also contains a large amount of polyunsaturated fats, which have been said to be healthy for the heart, as well as reducing cholesterol, and being beneficial to the body. Recommended Applications: Maize oil is used in a variety of products including cooking products (margarine), soaps, textiles and oil treatments.

Mandarin Oil(Citrus reticulate) Background: Our Mandarin oil is expressed from the outer peel by cold pressing. Grown world wide it is yellowy-orange in colour with a blue-violet hint. The oil has a floral intensely sweet citrus scent. Mandarin oil blends well with other citrus and spiced oils. Properties/Benefits: It has antiseptic, stimulant and sedative properties, giving it great value as a medical herb. Curing ailments such as acne, scarring and indigestion. Recommended Applications: This oil has a variety of uses and is used in: – Soaps, Cosmetics, Perfumes, and as a Flavouring agent in sweet soft drinks and liqueurs. This oil can also be used in aromatherapy and for a number of different ailments.

Mango Butter(Mangifera Indica) Background: Our exotic mango butter is produced by the pressing and then refining of the kernel from the mango tree. Originating from India, the butter is white in colour and slightly sweet and fatty after refining. Properties/Benefits: Mango butter has traditionally been used as a lotion because of its soothing, moisturizing and protective properties. Its protective properties against UV radiation have made it a popular product amongst the sun worshipers and sun burners! Recommended Application: Ideal for irritated, burnt and peeling skin, so a fantastic after sun ingredient. It also acts as a super day to day body cream ingredient as it helps reduce wrinkles and stretch marks.

Monoi Oil(Gardenia tahitensis) Background: Monoi Oil is traditionally made by soaking Tahitian gardenia flower in pure Coconut Oil for 15 days. The oil is pale yellow in colour and has a strong sweet floral scent. The Tahitian gardenia flower grows through out the French Polynesia. It was used by the Maori tribe 2,000 years ago for medicinal, cosmetic and religious purposes. Properties / Benefits: Monoi Oil is rich in active ingredients. It is a naturally concentrated emollient which penetrates the skin, re-hydrates the layers of the epidermis and shields skin against sun and wind. It is also very effective in re-hydrating dry damaged hair, and claims to speed up the tanning process. Recommended application: This oil is used in a variety of cosmetic products such as: – moisturisers, Bath oil, Hair conditioner, after sun moisturiser, Tanning oil and Relaxation.

Moringa Oil(Moringa ovalifolia) Background: The origin of moringa is Arabia and India. Today, the tree is common to landscapes all over the tropics of the Old World, from South Africa to West Africa. Moringa oil is clear, and is odourless. Benefits: Moringa oil is rich in vitamin A, which claims to help build collagen fibres within the skin. It is also rich in vitamin C, which is said to act as a potent antioxidant in the body and aid in the healing of wounds, maintaining the skin tissue and replacing the damaged ones. Moringa is said to moisturise and smoothen the skin, delay wrinkles, lighten the skin tone, and nourish and protect the skin from free radical damage. Recommended Applications: Moringa oil is used in a variety of products including shampoos and conditioners, creams, lotions, perfumes and it has many culinary uses.

Neem Oil (Cold Pressed)(Melia Azadirachta) Background: Neem oil is a natural vegetable oil generally dark brown to blood-red in colour with a strong odour reminiscent of peanut & garlic. Properties/Benefits: Full of essential fatty acids, in cold temperatures the oil will solidify requiring heating for ease of use. It is naturally healing and is one of the most commercially available products for organic farming and medicinal uses. Recommended Applications: A wide range of cosmetic & pharmaceutical applications from haircare products to anti-bacterial face washes, Insect repellent to pet care.

Peanut Oil(Arachis hypogaea) Background: Peanuts are native to South America and the West Indies, but are now grown extensively throughout the world in tropical and sub-tropical areas. Peanut oil has a deep yellow colour, with a nutty aroma and sweet taste. Benefits: Peanut oil has several benefits such as it is said to be effective in helping arthritis and rheumatism, it is also said to lower cholesterol and prevent heart disease. The oil is also said to improve functioning of the digestive systems. And when mixed with lime juice, it is believed that peanut oil helps in the treatment of acne. Recommended Applications: Peanut oil is used in a variety of products including soaps, massage oil, skin care products and baby care products.

Pistachio Nut Oil(Pistacia vera) Background: The Pistachio Tree originates from southern Europe and Asia. It is now grown in France, Turkey, Italy, Iran and the USA. Pistachio Oil is cold pressed from the pistachio nut; it is emerald green in colour and has an aromatic, assertive but subtly sweet scent and flavour. Benefits: Pistachio Oil is used mainly in Middle Eastern dishes, as it has a powerful, sweet flavour which goes particularly well with green salads. It claims to form an important source of protein, fats and minerals to the people of Central, West and South Asian regions. The rich oil also contains a powerful dose of phytosterols that have been shown to reduce the risk of certain types of cancer and the amount of cholesterol that is absorbed in the body. Recommended Applications: Pistachio nut oil is used in a variety of products including culinary use, nutritional supplements, candles, massage therapy products and cosmetics.

Plum Kernal Oil (Cold Pressed)(Prunus Domestica) Background: Plum oil is undoubtedly one of our favourites. With its rich ‘marzipan’ like aroma, unlike other oils this CP oil penetrates the skin effectively leaving no greasy residue. Its marketability and functionality go hand in hand in providing food and cosmetic formulators with a very exciting ingredient. Properties/Benefits: With its emollient and antioxidant properties; this oil provides suppleness and volume to lips and re-hydration and nourishment to dry skin and hair. Foodies can enjoy the almond/ marzipan flavour of the oil. Recommended Application: Due to its aroma, it is commonly used as a massage oil, but we prefer it when applied in finished products such as Lip balms, hair conditioners and facial moisturisers (including after shave balms). Foodies; with its almond/ marzipan flavour, it is also a popular choice in marinades, deserts and vinaigrettes.

Pumice PowderBackground: A kind of igneous rock that is formed when a volcano erupts. The lava solidifies to form this rock. The pumice rock is then ground down into a powder form to make pumice powder. Properties/Benefits: Pumice is an abrasive light volcanic rock; this is also true for the powder. When ground down to a powder the pumice particles help removes foreign substances, tarnish and plaque. It also provides a superb exfoliating medium to gently remove rough dead skin. Recommended Applications: Pumice powder is an excellent ingredient for cosmetics especially facial scrubs. Pumice powder is often added to: – hand soap, exfoliates, toothpaste, polishes and pencil erasers.

Raspberry Seed Oil(Rubus idaeus) Background: Raspberries are thought to have originated from Asia, with Roman records going back to the 4th Century AD. Raspberry seed oil has a dark yellow-orange colour, with a mildly sweet, fruity odour. Benefits: Raspberries are an excellent source of vitamin C, vitamin B, folic acid and iron. Raspberry seed oil is said to be beneficial for skin issues such as gingivitis, rashes and eczema. Raspberry seed oil claims to work magic on wrinkles, and protect the skin against sun rays. Recommended Applications: Raspberry seed oil is used in a variety of products including skin creams, bath oils, toothpaste and many culinary uses.

Roman Chamomile Oil(Anthema Nobilis) Background: Our Roman chamomile is distilled from the dried flower heads of the Roman chamomile, UK grown, it is a light blue mobile liquid, with a warm, sweet, fruity (apple like) scent. Properties/Benefits: Chamomile has antiseptic and antibacterial compounds and is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Recommended Applications: A variety of uses including massage/bath oils, skincare lotions and creams including as a base for rashes, burns and sunburn; shampoo’s and sensitive skin treatments.

Rosehip Oil (Refined)(Rosa Canina) Background: Our rosehip oil is wild harvested derived from the seeds of the red berry like fruits or hips originating in Chile. Golden-reddish in colour with a slight odour. Properties/Benefits: Rosehip oil contains a high content of unsaturated essential fatty acids and Vitamins A, C & E giving it therapeutic and healing properties to repair damaged tissue and skin cell regeneration. Recommended Applications: Skincare applications for acne and eczema, skin burns including sun creams and lotions, moisturizers and anti-ageing creams.

Shea Butter (Refined and Unrefined)(Butyrospermum Parkii) Background: Our shea butter is a direct produce from communities in Africa. The product provides a number of jobs for a society of women who collectively harvest the shea nuts themselves. This incessantly growing ingredient has become the base oil/butter of a variety of cosmetic and food formulations making the shea nut/butter a very significant export product for Africa. Properties/Benefits: Due to its stearic and oleic acid levels, shea has increased mobility at room temperature making it an ideal base for lotions and creams. It is also rich in vitamin A and E, which are two of the best skin healing vitamins. Recommended Application: Ideally formulated in lotions, body creams and face creams. Its properties help with anything from wrinkles to chaffing, to rashes and also preventing curing and preventing an itchy scalp and dandruff.

Strawberry Seed Oil (Cold Pressed)(Fragaria Ananassa) Background: Our strawberry seed oil is one of many of our fruit seed oils produced in our own facility in the UK. We collect the seeds as a by-product of the fruit juice and jam manufacturing industry, clean and dry, then squeeze for oil. The sustainability of this product is apparent due to its ‘no waste’ production process; great marketability. And you haven’t heard about its intrinsic benefits yet. Properties/Benefits: The oil provides omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids that help to repair the moisture barrier of the skin, thus helping to restore moisture, smoothness and suppleness. It also absorbs well and will effectively moisturise, protect and nourish skin and hair. Recommended Application: A versatile ingredientm it can be used in a variety of finished products, however it makes a fantastic, exotic body butter ingredient; but also widely used in lotions, soaps and lip balms.

Sweet Almond Oil (Refined USP29)(Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis) Background: The most popular of the carrier oils due to its affordable and unyielding characteristics; which allows flexibility in formulation hence why it is used in a variety of cosmetic and edible finished products. Its refined state leaves no odour and a stable, long lasting, clear product. Properties/Benefits: Almond oils rich oleic acid content and its rich vitamin analysis allow it to act as a fantastic lubricator/ protector. Due to its affordability and functionality, it is the most commonly used base/carrier oil in a wide range of formulations. Recommended Application: A common ingredient for a range of formulations from shampoos to moisturisers and body butters. However due to the above benefits, it is most commonly used as a therapeutic massage oil.

Tamanu Oil (Cold Pressed)(Calophyllum Inophyllum) Background: A tropical South East Asian ornamental tree obtained by cold pressing the combined fruit & seed leaving a mild & pleasant odour. Properties/Benefits: A thick, viscous dark grey-green to black in colour used for its analgesic and inflammatory properties. Recommended Applications: Can be used in hair & scalp treatments, skincare products for eczema, psoriasis and burns, pain relieving products particularly for sciatica and rheumatism and is said to be particularly useful in the treatment of Shingles and to prevent/reduce stretch marks

Watermelon Seed Oil(Citrullus vulgaris) Background: Historians trace the watermelon origin back to the Kalahari Desert of Africa. China is now the world’s largest watermelon producer. Watermelon seed oil is a light oil, that is pale or colourless. Benefits: Watermelon oil contains high amounts of unsaturated fatty acids, with rich amounts of linoleic and oleic acids. Because of this, watermelon oil claims to be beneficial for dry, oily, acne-prone or maturing skin. Watermelon oil is said to be a good cleanser, and also dissolves the oil that gets accumulated in the skin pores. Recommended Applications: Watermelon seed oil is used in a variety of products including creams, lotions, soaps, eye creams and baby oil formulations.

Witch Hazel(Hamamelis virginiana) Background: Witch hazel is native to the eastern half of North America. It is now found from Maine to Florida, and to the Mississippi River. Witch hazel oil is clear, and virtually odourless. Benefits: Witch hazel oil is said to have many different uses, including spot and blemish control, soothing and healing rashes, shrinking bags under the eyes, soothing and reducing haemorrhoids, relieving varicose veins, soothing poison ivy and poison oak, treating chicken pox blisters and healing bruises faster. Recommended Applications: Witch hazel oil is used in a variety of products including facial cleansers, toners, astringents, creams and lotions.
